WEEK ONE

Mindset Shift and Finding the Foundation for Your Story

OBJECTIVE:

Understand who you are the core message of your story, the purpose of writing, and the key themes.

LESSON:

  • Explore where you currently are and get to know yourself better

  • Explore the "why" behind your story—what do you want to share with others, and why is it important?

  • Develop the core message and themes you want to explore (healing, strength, overcoming fear).

  • Identify the "beginning" of your story: where it all starts (this might not be the first event but a moment that sets the stage for everything else).

WEEK TWO

Defining the Characters and Key Events

OBJECTIVE:

Build the characters, including yourself, and decide which events are central to your story. Fiction or non-fiction?

LESSON:

  • Who are the main characters in your story? (Your past self, abusers, friends, family, mentors, God, etc.)

  • What are the key events that shaped your life and your story?

  • Discuss how to "show" versus "tell" in writing, focusing on details that create a vivid picture.

WEEK THREE

Structuring Your Story—Building the Outline

OBJECTIVE:

Start to structure your story, breaking it down into clear sections or chapters.

LESSON:

  • The importance of a clear structure: how to break your story down into an introduction, middle (conflict), and resolution.

  • How to build suspense and maintain engagement throughout your writing.

  • Define key milestones in your healing process that could represent turning points in your story.

Self Discovery

This is the starting point, you embark on a journey of self-discovery. By identifying your ideas, values, interests, passions, and strengths, you’ll be able to start to map out a meaningful and fulfilling future beyond your current role and identity.

Purpose Discovery

The 'Purpose Discovery' module involves deep, perhaps lengthy, reflection exercises and visualisation techniques to help you discover and validate your new purpose beyond your work identity. You will leave this module feeling empowered and confident about your next phase of life.

Process Development

In this ‘foundation’ module, you’ll start to build a clear roadmap for your journey into the future. Through a clear understanding of goal-setting and action planning, you’ll gain the tools and techniques you need to navigate this significant transition. You may well find this quite different from any change you’ve managed before.

Support Development

This module will guide you in how to prepare yourself for the way forward. You’ll learn to ‘let go’ of the ‘past’ and the need for forgiveness and gratitude to facilitate this. We’ll discover who and what to avoid and how to identify ‘partners in believing’ who’ll support you in what may be a complex period of setting yourself free.

Managing Transition

Building on the previous module, you'll learn stress management techniques, how to deal with anxiety, and resilience-building strategies. You’ll learn to have faith and belief in yourself and transmit this to others. We’ll revisit the work you did in Modules 2 and 3 and fill out any additional detail or clarity. This module prepares you emotionally to manage the way forward seamlessly.

Duration: 3 hours

Harvesting Transition

In this module you’ll ‘launch’ your new ‘business’ of being YOU in ‘life-after-work’. You'll learn confidence-building exercises and ongoing action planning techniques to face any future fears and uncertainties. By paying attention to your intention without tension and with the support of your ‘team’ you can be confident your expectations will be met. This module ensures you step into your next phase ‘Powered Up’ with a sense of renewed significance and life force. Perhaps it’s time for a ‘starting party’!

WEEK FOUR

Writing the First Draft—Starting the Journey

OBJECTIVE:

Begin writing the first draft, focusing on getting your thoughts down without worrying about perfection.

LESSON:

  • The importance of writing without self-judgment—let the words flow without editing.

  • Establishing a regular writing routine to overcome writer’s block.

  • Writing for healing, not just for others. Focus on expressing your truth.

WEEK FIVE

Continuing the Draft—Telling Your Full Story

OBJECTIVE:

Expand your first draft, filling in the gaps and adding depth to your story.

LESSON:

  • Continue writing the body of your story—don’t stop at the first chapter.

  • Focus on adding details, emotions, and reflections that deepen the impact of each event.

  • Discuss pacing and how to handle sensitive topics.

WEEK SIX

Crafting Your Writing Style and Polishing the Final Draft

OBJECTIVE:

Refine your writing style, establish consistency in voice, and polish the final draft to prepare for publication or sharing.

Developing Your Unique Writing Voice

Key Points:

  • Finding Your Voice: Focus on what makes your writing unique—how your personal experiences and perspective should shape your narrative style. This includes tone (e.g., hopeful, raw, empowering) and pace.

  • Consistency in Style: Ensure that your tone, language, and narrative style are consistent throughout the book. Discuss how to balance descriptive language with storytelling, especially when dealing with sensitive topics.

  • Using Dialogue and Reflection: How to use dialogue effectively to bring scenes to life and reflect on your inner journey. Make sure dialogue flows naturally and helps the reader connect emotionally with the characters.

  • Sentence Structure and Word Choice: Tips for avoiding repetitive phrases and overused words. Focus on clarity, specificity, and impact with every sentence.

WEEK SEVEN

Revisiting the Story—Making Revisions and Refining Your Voice

OBJECTIVE:

Review and revise the first draft, clarifying the narrative and strengthening your voice.

LESSON:

  • The importance of self-reflection in writing—looking for patterns, clarity, and emotional impact.

  • Strategies for refining your voice and making sure it resonates with your audience.

  • Learning to cut unnecessary details that don’t serve your message.

WEEK EIGHT

Editing for Structure and Flow

OBJECTIVE:

Focus on editing for narrative flow, consistency, and structure.

LESSON:

  • How to refine the flow of your story, ensuring a coherent narrative from beginning to end.

  • Identifying plot holes, inconsistencies, and unnecessary tangents.

  • Making sure each chapter transitions smoothly and that the message remains focused.

  • Finding the right editor .

  • Publishing your book.
